Judi Goldwasser Hagerty

This third generation artist inherited her interest in the visual arts from her father and grandfather, while inheriting a special affinity for the native American Indian from her mother's Cherokee heritage.

Having lived in several eastern states, Judi settled upon the Arizona desert as home for nineteen years. Her paintings developed a southwestern flavor in colouring as well as subject matter; reflecting the people, terrain and wildlife within her direct scope. For the last six years, Judi and her husband, Michael and son, Timothy have called Illinois home. So, while continuing to provide her Arizona gallery with southwest art, Judi has added Rural Americana and Seascapes to her repertoire of Equine Art, Animal Portraits, Estate Renderings, Wildlife Paintings and Fine Art Portraiture.

Judi has her state permit in conjunction with her federal license for the rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife. Many of these patients become subject matter for her paintings before their eventual release. With her hands-on-knowledge of animals and birds, and her parade of patient-models, Judi's wildlife studies capture a realism of physical appearance as well as animal behavior seldom found in the art world.

An avid dressage rider, Judi has trained four "off-the-track" thoroughbreds for competition in the recognized show world. Her daily contact and participation with horses makes them second nature to her - which is apparent in her horse related paintings. These are regularly featured on the cover of the national "Chronicle of the Horse Magazine", and featured in both "Vista Magazine" and "On Course Magazine".

Judi has a "nude" on permanent display at the Norton Gallery Museum of Art as part of the Fels Hecht Collection in Palm Beach, Florida. Her work is included in collections in Canada, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Morocco and Holland, as well as throughout the United States.

Judi was educated at the Bedford Arts Center in Bedford, New York, The NYC Art Students League, and has her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Alfred University in Alfred, New York. Judi is currently represented in three galleries in the United States: "Treasures in Art", in Scottsdale, Arizona; "Gallery 28", in Geneva, Illinois; and "Artworks", in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania.
